Dominique Davon McDonald, 21, of Columbia, MD has been charged and denied bail for the shooting death of a bail bondswoman. Nichole Bernadette McNair, 42, of Baltimore was collecting a payment when she was shot and killed Monday.
Police on Wednesday charged McDonald with murder and assault. Investigators believe McDonald arranged to meet McNair to make a payment on money owed for a recent bail paid in a case against him.
McNair was later found in a parking lot after gunshots were reported to police. Witnesses reported seeing a man in a hooded jacket fleeing the scene. Paperwork was discovered in McNair’s car indicating she was collecting a payment from McDonald.
A Police search of the woods near the crime scene uncovered McNair’s cellphone, as well as a piece of a cellphone that was later determined to belong to McDonald.
Detectives determined where McDonald was staying, went to the location and found him along with the other half of his cellphone, a hooded jacket and loaded handgun.
A Howard County District Court judge ordered McDonald held without bail after a deputy state’s attorney argued he posed a flight risk, citing a pending firearm case and a prior conviction for assault with a firearm.
