54 year old, Randy F. Moore, is being held without bail after being arraigned on a murder charge and two counts of assault with intent to murder. His attorney made a request for a forensic psychologist.
Moore has been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, according to Boston Housing Authority. Court records show that Moore has a criminal record.
Moore is accused of killing 78 year old, William Thomas, at an apartment complex in Brighton, Massachusetts on Wednesday morning. Thomas was found in his wheelchair fatally wounded from a gunshot to the chest in the entrance to his first-floor apartment.
Moore had barricaded himself in his apartment on the second floor, armed with ammo and a shotgun. He fired through the rear door multiple times on Boston Police officers as they approached to secure the scene. “The rounds went through the door and right by the head of one of the officers,” said Assistant District Attorney Mark Hallal.
After the two hour ordeal Moore finally surrendered; Prosecutors don’t know what the motive was.
